The ability to identify individuals
who are truly infected with M. tuberculosis and who are at risk for disease will tremendously simplify the process of tuberculosis elimination in the United States.

T-SPOT® Technology

T-SPOT technology is an innovative platform for diagnosing disease that is based on the ELISpot (enzyme-linked immunospot) technique, which has been widely used for over two decades. The technology is a simple and accurate method of measuring a person's immune response to infection. Oxford Immunotec has applied the principles of the ELISpot technique to the specific measurement of effector T cells and has simplified, optimized and validated this technique for routine diagnostic use.

Every time an infection occurs, the body produces specific cells, called effector T cells, to fight the infection.  T-SPOT tests detect these effector T cells that the body has produced.

T-SPOT technology is the only technique to directly measure T cells that is suitable for routine diagnostic use. The T-SPOT®.TB test is the first diagnostic application of the T-SPOT technology.
T-SPOT.TB is an in vitro diagnostic test for both TB infection and disease.

The T-SPOT technology platform can also be applied to diagnose and monitor any disease driven by a T cell response. The technology is particularly pertinent where current methods of monitoring and diagnosing disease, such as traditional antibody tests, have proved to be inadequate.
